Nic collaborates with the Trauma Informed Care team to support direct care staff and facilities with training, curriculum development and technical supports. He has extensive experience supporting youth and adults who benefit from specialized support services. Nic has over 20 years of experience working in the development disabilities services field.
Nic has a bachelors' degree in psychology from Colorado State University with a focus on cognitive neuroscience.

Brooklynn Shipman, BA

Brooklynn has always had a deep devotion for helping people. Her experience in child welfare, specifically child protective services and mentoring, expanded her dedication to not only engaging with youth and families in crisis but collaborating with families and professionals to ensure respectful and effective services were rendered. Brooklynn's practice of engagement with a trauma informed perspective is paramount in her work. Brooklynn's emphasis with NRCYS is exploring and building curriculum to support child welfare specialists and cultivate their work with youth and families.
Brooklynn has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor focus on Human and Family Science from Northeastern State University.

This intensive, two-day Managing Aggressive Behavior (MAB) utilizes a holistic approach to crisis management for residential care. Effective behavior support goes beyond passive physical restraint or strict behavior modification. This comprehensive refresher course will take participants already trained in the MAB curriculum. Foundations, as well as Prevention, Intervention, and Post-intervention strategies will be reviewed.
