RCYCP 2: Child Development

RCYCP 2: Understanding Child Development allows Youth Care Professionals to be more effective in their work with young people. Participants will examine the various domains of child development and how they influence interactions with young people, the importance of teaching independent living skills, and how to work with youth at different developmental levels.

RCYCP 3: Building Relationships

The ability to form positive relationships with others is at the heart of working with young people. In RCYCP 3: Building Relationships, participants will discuss the importance of developing positive relationships with youth, how culture and communication impact relationships, and how positive relationships can help make youths' transitions smoother.

Managing Aggressive Behavior TCC

Managing Aggressive Behavior (MAB) utilizes a holistic approach to crisis management for residential care. In this five-day course, participants will review the MAB curriculum and will practice training segments of the workshop. In order to become a certified trainer, participants must attend all 5 days and complete a training exam.

RCYCP 4: Teaching Discipline

One goal of youth work is to support young people in choosing more helpful behaviors by improving self-discipline. In RCYCP 4: Teaching Discipline, participants will examine the relationship between needs and behavior, identify the difference between punishment and discipline, and explore ways Youth Care Professionals can assist young people in changing behavior and managing conflict.
