RFT Training Services
The Resource Family Training and Support team provides pre-service training and in-service training for Oklahoma DHS kinship, foster, and adoptive families.
Pre-Service Training
Potential kinship, foster, and adoptive families in Oklahoma are required to have 27 hours of pre-service training prior to approval as a resource home. This training is provided in a variety of formats to meet the needs of families utilizing the Guiding Principles for Oklahoma Resource Families curriculum. The training is provided statewide.
In-Service Training
Oklahoma resource families are required to earn 12 credit hours of ongoing education each year, called in-service training. Each of the following resources offers a variety of courses developed by professionals with expertise in foster care, kinship, and adoption. Training hours must be pre-approved by your worker.
Online In-Service Training
DHS has authorized 12 prepaid online in-service credits through Foster Parent College and Foster Care and Adoptive Community training sites. Each of these resources offers training courses developed by professionals with expertise in foster care, kinship, and adoption.
RFT Contract Trainers
The RFT program contracts with trainers statewide to present pre-service workshops for resource parents.
