Cultivating Resilience: Prioritizing Self-Care to Cope with Family Adversity

This workshop will explore some of the ways that parents’ pasts (both bio parents and resource parents) can impact our everyday interactions with the children in our care. The workshop will also explore the importance of self-care and other research-informed strategies to build and maintain our resources and systems of resilience.

The Impact of Trauma on Adolescent Development

Youth Thrive: Promoting Youth Resilience

This training is intended to be used after participants have completed the Youth Thrive™: Promotive and Protective Factors to Support Healthy Adolescent Development training so participants come to the training with an understanding of the basics about the Youth Thrive promotive and protective factor framework and can use this training to begin to make an intentional shift from theory to practice.

Culturally Responsive Care: Every Child Deserves a Home Where They Are Valued for Who They Are

This interactive training will help participants gain a deeper understanding of the impact of culture and diversity in people’s lives, explore the ways in which biases create opportunities for some and barriers for others, as well as develop knowledge to better serve diverse clients and family members.

Using Art as a Self-Care Intervention

In this six-hour workshop, participants will learn the definition of self-care and professional boundaries when providing care; examine differences between secondary traumatic stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout; and discuss excuses for not participating in self-care. This training will also examine possible outcomes when caregivers fail to prioritize self-care.
