In this training session, we will explore how trauma impacts young people, focusing on its effects on brain development, emotional regulation, and relationships. Participants will learn how this exposure can lead to increased stress, difficulty thinking clearly, challenges in forming trust and the long-term impact this can have on mental health and behavior. Attention will also be given to helping care-taking adults avoid the negative effects that can come from supporting youth with trauma.

Key Concepts:

  • Understand: trauma's effects on the brain, emotions, and relationships.
  • Identify: signs of trauma and using communication techniques to support healing.
  • Increase: awareness of trauma’s potential impact on caregivers.
